Sushi Hanami in Calgary

The food is fast, fresh & flavorful.

Went here for dinner tonight but ended up leaving before ordering because there was a MOUSE crawling along the wall panel above a table full of diners, who also promptly left.

We live nearby and we go to this restaurant occasionally. We have never been dissatisfied with the food or service. They offer a good tradeoff of quality and price. I definitely recommend to those looking for a place to have Japanese/Korean food with good price.

Best sushi in Calgary!

Best sushi place in Calgary. The staff are super friendly and quick. They are right by mount royal uni so its convenient for students who want well priced sushi.

A great Japanese/Korean place, food is always delicious and service is always friendly and efficient. This place has become a regular for me!

Great variety on menu and good value.

First off if large portion sizes are a problem for you, not the place to go. Very large portions for the same price point as most places and decent quality overall. The salmon was disappointing but tuna and other fish were good. Agadashi tofu and tuna tataki were excellent. Everything was beautifully plated and I loved that it wasn't over salted like most places. Excellent service, too. Found my favourite sushi joint in Calgary.

Tasty, excellent portion sizes for the price. Ordered via skip the dishes (not a fan), called the restaurant to check on order staff were very friendly-will dine in person next time :) -1 star because they use styrofoam containers for take-out orders.

I think for where we are (in the prairies, not by the ocean), this place puts out good sushi. Good portions/cuts. Pretty reliable korean food as well. It's a casual dining place and they always seem to always meet my expectation for casual sushi dining

I've been here multiple times in the past and have enjoyed the food and service, which is why I keep coming back, but...tonight I had the worst waitress that I've ever encountered. I'm not sure if it was her first day or if she's just not that good, but she took about 15 minutes to take our order, forgot to bring tea, brought a different table's food which we had to send back so they could get it, never refilled water, had to go up and ask for a box so we could pack the rest of the food up, and after a few minutes waiting for the bill we just decided to go up and talk to the other girl behind the counter so that we could pay. We also noticed that there was only about 4 tables with people to serve and at least 4 or 5 tables hadn't been cleaned up since we got there and still had dirty dishes on them.

Best Japanese restaurant. Perfect Katsu and so many sushi varieties. Worth every loonie.

Great food, great staff

Good food and service in a fairly informal setting. Never too busy. Parking free up to 90 minutes.

Good sushi place, best value in the area. Sushi us Korean style, not Japanese, but still very tasty. Cheaper than other sushi places on the Westside and quality is comparable or even better in some cases. Bento boxes are quite good.

I keep coming back for the Spicy Beef Teriyaki

I ordered skip the dishes.... I Don't always expect much from sushi places on skip honestly, but I read the reviews on google and gave it a try. I was so very pleasantly surprise! The size of the sashimi and the quality is fantastic, I had a crab roll with tuna sashimi on top, you get sooo much crab!! And the unagi Avacado crab roll is delicious, great knife cuts on the Avacado and its perfectly ripe and you get so much. I will definitely be eating there again! Thank you Sushi Hanami for a delicious meal on my day off!

I enjoyed the food and the service. The lost star is because I really dislike cheap chopsticks in a restaurant.

In my opinion, this place has the best sushi in town! They are friendly and the sushi creations are fresh and tasty. My favourite place! I only wish they opened another location in Calgary’s:)

Great service and great sushi

Bento box wasn’t bad, and the sashimi cuts were pretty generous compared to other places. Tempura was good in portion and taste as well. Service was friendly. It’s a weird complaint but their dipping bowls are so small it’s hard to get any sauce... everything would be great besides that. It was just a little pricey.

What is going on with the size of these sushi rolls? I have never seen so big rolls. You can not fit it in your mouth. You can see my finger for measure. The taste was not bad but i was so throw away about the amount of extra rice and size .

The staff here was extremely friendly and attentive. Food was also very good. Come try this sushi restaurant out.

Food was great! We were stuffed, just sad that they don't serve the Miso soup and the little yogurt drinks anymore. I am not sure if they still do or they they didn't give us.

Horrible customer service. This is the 2nd time this happened. But I still went there as I wanted to support local business due to COVID. Bought a sashimi platter for take away, few pieces were really bad and not edible. Brought back to the store. Instead of saying sorry and replacing them, he takes $2 out of the cash and offers me instead of doing a return/replacement. Are you kidding me???Who does that? My first experience I have them the benefit of doubt, but this time I had to write this review.Never again. They sure saved $30, and hopefully this make them rich.

Great service and great food. I bumped my chopsticks and one fell on the floor during lunch time. (It was busy) and before I could finish picking up the chopstick another set was being brought to my table. Really enjoyed my meal here. Great sushi. One of the best places in Calgary.

This is our local and we have takeout here at least once a month. Great value! The portions are generous and the special rolls are excellent (Volcano roll and Flame Dragon roll are especially recommended)! Hanami loses a star for me because their food often comes out TOO quickly - if you order takeout and they tell you half an hour, show up in 20 otherwise it will be sitting there. I understand they want to be cautious but no one likes cold tempera. We've found that showing up 10 minutes early is usually right to get food coming right out of the kitchen.

Been going here since before their renovation when they had gingham tablecloths. Consistent quality. Only place we can find sashimi dupbop!

Fantastic! Staff were authentically Japanese, attentive and the food delicious. We went on Christmas Eve and they were one of the few that were open. A wonderful experience all around.

Very good, come here quite often😀but not sure if that is the culture, once we pay the bill, the waitress will take my plates...while not finished...not first time. 🤔

Always fresh and delicious!

The space in the restaurant is not so big but the services is good. The parking lot is free for the first 2 hours. The wheelchair is little bit difficult to access. The food is just above average because most of the Japanese food are almost the same. I think it is not fair to give such a comment because I didn't have try all their food. Well it is a nice to drop in for a lunch.

Really happy with the experience here! Would highly recommend! The food was unreal, great quality in the fish and the quantity of meat was generous. All portions were generous, especially considering their pricing.

This is just bad, everything falling apart and tasteless.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is very nice, they have a nice selection of rap music to really set the mood.It was an exciting meal as what they brought out was a random assortment of things not based on our order at all.They somehow managed to make a avocado roll that had over ripe and under ripe avocado in it at the same time. It was both brown and soft and crunchy at the same time. Two starts because I subbed my toe on the way in the door.

Hands down, the BEST Japanese restaurant!!! I was amazed how many different dishes on the menu. Way more than just sushi I was surprised there was udon and ramen.This is truly authentic Japanese food with larger portions!!!!
